Hi All,

Today we are featuring great hints on how to save energy. Not
only will this save on your pocketbook, but also help the
environment.

Here’s the first…Let’s start using the sun to help warm
the house. Open curtains on south, east, and west-facing
windows during the day, when the light of the sun will help
heat the rooms. Shut them at night to insulate the rooms
from the chilly evening air.

Handy Hints #1:

Check to see if sofas, chairs, or tv stands are in the way
of heating vents or radiators. If you block vents, airflow
is restricted, resulting in higher output from your furnace
or broiler.

Handy Hints #2:

Don’t let the water run continuously while you’re washing
your face or brushing your teeth. Turn off the faucet until
you need to rinse and then use only what you need to use.

You can also buy shower heads that are low-flow and water-
efficient.

Hi All,

We have a brand new blog site that I would like you all
to check out. The layout is much different (and better if
you ask me) and is easier to use. Check it out and let me
know what you think….and don’t forget to take the poll,
which is located on the right sidebar.

Handy Hints #1

Keep your head out of the refrigerator and the door closed!
The refrigerator is the single biggest energy-consuming
kitchen appliance, and opening the refrigerator door
accounts for between $30 and $60 of a typical family’s
electricity bill each year. The amount of energy saved in
a year by more efficient refrigerator usage could be enough
to light every house in the United States for more than four
and a half months straight.

Handy Hint #2

Sharpen scissors by ‘cutting’ a glass bottle.
